Curriculum
Our Curriculum
At Grange Academy, we provide a broad, engaging and purposeful curriculum that enables every pupil to feel a sense of belonging, build confidence in their abilities, and achieve outcomes that support their future pathways. We aim to develop independent learners who can take part in their community and contribute positively to society.
Learning is delivered through flexible, topic-based themes within a 3-year rolling programme, with some Key Stage 4 classes studying distinct subjects. Enrichment opportunities include trips, workshops, themed days and work experience.
At Grange Academy classes are groups into nests as follows
- Hawks
- Falcons
- Eagles
- Kestrels

School Offer
Phonics
At Grange Academy, we teach phonics and spelling using the DfE-validated Twinkl Phonics programme. Delivered from Phase 1 to Phase 6, it uses a multi-sensory approach tailored to pupils’ needs, including EHCP targets.
Teaching is adapted in pace and delivery to maximise engagement and accessibility. Pupils receive four bespoke phonics lessons each week, supported by visual resources across the curriculum and a wide range of decodable books.
Progress is closely monitored using Phonics Tracker, with additional small group or 1:1 interventions where needed. We also use a range of complementary reading and spelling strategies to further support learning.
