Grange Academy

Forest School

All pupils at Grange Academy will be offered the opportunity to participate in ‘Forest School’ activities.

What is Forest School

Forest School inspires children through positive outdoor learning. It is a child‑led programme that supports confidence, independence and holistic development through play, exploration and safe risk‑taking.

Children learn practical skills, discover the natural world and enjoy hands‑on activities such as stick carving and fire lighting. Sessions take place in woodland year‑round, giving pupils the chance to explore nature in all seasons.

Forest School at Grange

At Grange, our Forest School offers a variety of outdoor learning spaces, including a tamed woodland area, a wild woodland strip kept in its natural state, and a developing wildflower meadow that supports local biodiversity. Our site continues to grow and adapt to pupils’ interests and needs.

Children learn through first‑hand experiences such as exploring, playing and discovering. Activities are a blend of leader‑led tasks and child‑initiated ideas, helping to build independence, confidence, teamwork and a strong connection with the natural world.
