Dress Code

We ask students to consider if what they are wearing is appropriate for a ‘professional environment’. Should the school staff decide that a student is not adhering to this code, staff have the right to ask the student to address this either immediately on the day or moving forward. The Sixth Form team has deemed the following attire as not appropriate:

  • Inappropriate footwear (sliders/flip flops/crocs) **Smart approved trainers are permitted
  • Revealing clothing (e.g. showing too much of the top or bottom half of the body)
  • Caps/hats should not be worn indoors Items that could cause offence to others (e.g. offensive language and or images)
  • Large, dangerous and or sharp jewellery
  • Hoodies, tracksuits and clothing with sports or other large logos (except for PE)

Students will be required to bring PE clothes for their weekly PE session. Students will change into their sports clothes before their lesson and then change back after the lesson. PE clothes can consist of tracksuit bottoms or shorts, a t-shirt, a hoodie, sweatshirt or tracksuit top and trainers.

Each student will be given a Grange fleece. Students will be given a student ID lanyard which must be worn at all times.

Students will be invited to wear jeans and trainers on Friday as a privilege if they have met expectations. Parents will be informed if their child is not allowed to participate.

The school’s leadership team have the final decision regarding what is and what is not suitable attire for Sixth Form students. Persistent disregard for the dress code will result in further disciplinary action being taken.

Grange Academy retains the right to act as the final authority in the interpretation of the dress code. If unsure, parents/carers and students are advised to contact a member of the Sixth Form team for clarification before purchasing items.
