Phones and Electronic Devices
In line with current government guidance and Grange Academy policy, students are not permitted to use mobile phones during the school day. Mobile phones must be switched off and stored away at all times whilst on site, helping students to remain focused, engaged in learning, and prepared for the expectations of further education and the workplace.
- Phones and other electronic devices (including headphones) are to be turned off at the school gates.
- Students devices are to be stored in their lockable lockers.
- Students and staff are not permitted to use their phones during lessons or on school site.
- Students are permitted to use their phones off site at lunch times.
- Students are not permitted to take any photos of students or staff on or off the premises during the school day.
- Students are welcome to bring their own wired headphones for use during designated and directed times.
Students are expected to follow the Sixth Form mobile phone policy at all times. Failure to meet these expectations may result in a range of sanctions, including the removal of the privilege of storing a phone in a personal locker. In such cases, students will be required to hand their phone in to a designated staff member at the start of the day, where it will be securely stored in a teacher’s drawer until the end of the school day.
Repeated breaches of the mobile phone policy may result in further consequences, including detentions with a member of the Senior Leadership Team, after-school detentions, and, where necessary, a temporary or permanent ban on bringing a mobile phone onto the school site. These measures are intended to support students in developing the professional behaviours and self-discipline expected in further education and the workplace.
Please note that the Grange Academy Behaviour Policy will be followed
